November 13 is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day

The Morris County Freeholders have proclaimed November 13 as “Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day’’ in Morris County, with a goal of raising awareness of this deadly disease and raising public support for funding and research towards finding treatments and a cure. Learn more.

You can join PurpleStride, an annual nationwide event that raises awareness and funds, in Parsippany on November 8. Register online.

Hugh Allen Mansion, Netcong

The Allen family owned this property between 1881 and 1944. The original stone section of the house was used as a tavern during the 19th century. A prominent public works contractor, Hugh Allen built many roads and also built and operated coal docks on the Morris Canal at Port Morris. The Allens subdivided nearby Allen Hill into smaller building lots.
